Greetings All: I will submit my full report of this year's game (how many species I can find in my region) for February separately but I figured that I should let folk know how things are going with me and my region (Bailey, Lamb, Hale, Floyd, Motley, Cochran, Hockley, Lubbock, Crosby, Dickens, Yoakum, Terry, Lynn, Garza, and Kent) versus Rich Kostecke and his region (Bell, Williamson, Travis, Falls, Milam, Lee, Burleson, Washington, Fayette, Brazos, Austin, Colorado, Madison, Grimes, Waller). By the end of February Rich had tallied 167 species in his region and I was at 133 (not quite caught up with his total of 137 at the end of January even) for my region. I pretty much have him right where I want him - poised at the brink of supreme overconfidence - and will dispense with his region's challenge to mine with ease upon the arrival of the spring rains. Or, as it is beginning to look, my region will remain dust-bowl dry and I will get taken out of my misery by a fast-moving, flaming tumbleweed by the end of April. Wishing for what the locals affectionately refer to as a 'toad-choker', Anthony 'Fat Tony' Hewetson, Lubbock.
