Hi All,
I am looking for a new tripod head and I am having trouble finding one that
seems well adapted for birding. I have a Vortex Razor 85mm scope (4.1 lbs)
and I am currently using a Vanguard Alta PH-31 head, which uses a single
handle to control and lock down both the pan and tilt, but the handle keeps
breaking. Then I have to send it back for the warranty, pay shipping, and
wait weeks for its return. And it keeps breaking during spring migration…
Could anyone recommend a tripod head that they enjoy using with their
scope? I take pictures with my phone through my scope, so quickly locking
and unlocking movement is important. I prefer to have a one handle system
(like the Vanguard Alta), but there do not seem to be many tripod heads
that have this feature. I am happy to hear about heads in all price ranges
(because if it works well for a long time, its worth it!), but ideally I
would like to keep it in the $100 range.
Thanks for your help,
Jennifer
