Greetings All:
This does look like a male Red-bellied Woodpecker and a female
Golden-fronted Woodpecker to me. The species do hybridize and we have
recorded hybrid birds at White River Lake (Crosby County), at Dickens
Springs (Dickens County), in the Afton area (Dickens County) and at a
site near Matador (Motley County) since I moved here in 1998. A
search in eBird might yield additional reports. Folk should keep an
eye on these birds to determine whether or not they breed at the site.
We have a lot of good eyes out there these days:)

Sunday afternoon, I saw this male red-bellied woodpecker going in and out of
a nest in a willow tree on the east side of Dupree Park. This other
woodpecker was also with him. Is she a golden-fronted female?
Thank you,
