Greetings All:

Noting that my backyard Black-chinned Hummingbird has been in a frenzy of
late, I put in a short and successful effort to find where she was
nesting. One mama hummingbird attending a nest with two - possibly three -
bills poking up (I didn't want to disturb them just to get a better view).

While peering into the depths of the jungle my backyard has become this
incredibly wet year, I was startled when a Zebra Heliconian flew out of the
densest patch of sunflowers, briefly hit my biggest patch of lantanas and
disappeared. I ran into the house, grabbed my camera, and spent twenty
minutes trying to relocate the beast - with no luck.

I will keep trying this evening.

This is one of my favorite butterflies and is a definite first for my
urban/suburban Lubbock yard!
