Earlier this evening an experienced ornithologist saw (and
photographed) a Zone-tailed Hawk over Lubbock. It would be worth
folks' effort to keep an eye on Turkey Vultures over the next few days
in case the bird lingers. I would be very wary about reporting the
bird without accompanying photographs - as it is very easy to go to
the dark side on this species and turn an imperfectly observed Turkey
Vulture into a Zone-tailed Hawk.
