Good report. I enjoyed our visit and appreciated your identification of the
thrasher. My knowledge of thrashers go back to my youth in NB when I go to my
uncle’s farm when he was threshing oats. I’d help the thrashers by moving
grain in the wagon.

This afternoon (Monday) we visited with Jerry and Liz Skoog at their home south
of 114th St. The backyard is attractive to birds, with lots of plants, bushes,
flowers, desert willow tree.
We admired the big red epaulets of a Red-winged Blackbird from less that 15
feet away. There must be a pond nearby, just north of 114th St.
We were suddenly paid a short visit from a Curve-billed Thrasher. I think
these are not normally yard birds, be it was easily identified when we saw the
golden/orange eye.
A few White-winged Doves monopolized the bird feeder, while a Mourning Dove
scratched around on the ground. Also, pairs of House Finches came and went to
the feeder.
