When I'm looking for Greater White-fronted Geese among a flock of other geese,
the thing that always seems to stand out first is that horizontal white line
between the belly feathers and the wing. You can see it clearly in Joe's
photo, which is a photo worthy of a field guide. From there, it's not too hard
to spot the pink/orange bill, and the white surrounding the bill. These geese
rarely seem to make it easy, preferring to play that where's Waldo routine. If
only they wore red and white striped sweaters and Buddy Holly glasses.
On the CBC we had several at Higganbotham Park on 19th, which is smaller and
easier to scan.

What do the white fronted look like? I looked yesterday. I saw the dark morph
snow goose and probably a hybrid of snow goose and Canadian. See emails that
