[Linuxtrent] Canon Powershot s10 + Linux

Saluti alla lista. 
Ho appena acquistato una fotocamera digitale Canon Powershot s10, a detta dei 
man supportatissima dal pinguino e gphoto2 in particolare.Non appena la 
connetto alla porta USB usbview mi segnala la presenza correttamente, ma 
i vari tools di Kde (Kamera, Digikam) mi rispondono 
"Could not claim the USB device" per quanto l'icona appaia.
Gtkam(e conseguentemente anche Gimp;-( ) risponde  
"Could not initialize camera".
Come ROOT mi ha dato la conferma della fotocamera "inizializzata", ma i vari 
tools (scusate, ma con le foto DEVO lavorare in ambiente grafico!) rispondono 
sempre quanto detto sopra!

Scusate la patafiata;-), ma mi sembra una corretta esposizione!
Domanda:
Sicuramente il problema è una cosa minima e fastidiosa come una zanzara in 
campeggio;-/! Ma dov'è? 
Qualcuno l'ha già risolto o visto la soluzione di altri?
ps: ho letto vari blog.. dall'italiano al tedesco ma niente!
