Io l'ho appena comprato in inglese. Vabbe'. Ci sono altre notizie, ma per ora le tralascio. Ciao Emanuele ----- Forwarded message from OOPList@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx ----- =================================== * Thinking in C# up soon (we hope to have a seminar this summer) For the many folks who have requested this, here's what you've been waiting for. And for those of you who think that Microsoft is the evil empire, please keep your counsel -- this wasn't my idea, it was Larry O'Brien's (the long-time former editor of Software Development magazine, creator of Game Developer and AI Expert magazines, who has given seminars with me and helped create the original "Hands-On Java CD ROM," etc.). Basically, Larry decided he would like to translate "Thinking in Java" into C# and we've worked it out. The publisher wants my name on the cover as the second author and I'm sure I'll learn plenty about it from my involvement, but basically Larry's the expert (and he will be giving the C# seminar, which we hope to launch in Crested Butte this summer). Publication should be sometime this summer, and it will be announced here. Larry has an especially valuable perspective, because although he likes C# and .NET as useful platforms upon which to build applications, he is not a Microsoft sycophant and tells it like he sees it, so if there's something he doesn't like or a situation that looks like it will be problematic (for example, because of Microsoft's copyrights on the most important aspects of .NET), he writes about it. So whether you decide to use C# or not, you'll find this a valuable and insightful analysis of the language. Just like the other "Thinking in..." books, the electronic version will be distributed freely from the web site. We hope to have it up (along with the BackTalk feedback system) within the next few weeks, so stay tuned. =================================== * Thinking in Java, in Italy, in Italian To coincide with the Spring publication of the Italian translation of Thinking in Java, 2nd edition, Andrea Provaglio will be giving a "Thinking in Java" seminar in Piacenza in the Italian Language, during the first half of June. We will publish details on the web site and in this newsletter when they are finalized.
