Dear All,
We have an intern position for candidates interested in learning technical
skills required to process videographic data in ecological context. It will
involve learning and applying image processing and machine learning
techniques.
This project is a part of my PhD thesis for which I am studying collective
behaviour of blackbuck herds in their natural habitat. To address my
question I have recorded herd movement videos using drone and I will be
looking at structural and movement properties of these herds as well as
their leadership dynamics. I am using image processing techniques to
automate the process of data extraction (individual coordinates) from these
videos.
In this specific project, I will be comparing different image processing
techniques on various datasets containing videographic data.
Work will involve understanding the problem statement and techniques, and
then running codes for various datasets. This will be done mostly using
python language. In the end, we will be comparing efficiency of 3 basic
techniques in different type of datasets.
Title of project: A comparative demonstration of image processing
techniques on videographic data in ecology
Duration: 6 months (Jan-June 2018)
Stipend: Unpaid position, ideal as end semester project for students
pursuing batchelor's or master's
Pre-requisites: Familiarity with any programming language (or willingness
to learn), interested in learning technical aspects of data collection and
analysis
