Hello!
I would appreciate if you could send this mail around to people who may be
interested in making a difference to children in remote areas of India by
spreading the wonder of science based activities in education. Gyan-Setu is
a wonderful movement seeking to do that, and this would be a great learning
and leadership opportunity to anyone willing to commit a year to such a
cause. You can also volunteer for shorter durations (1-2 weeks), see

India is a country of tremendous diversity; geophysical, socio-economic and
cultural. This has created huge barriers for communication across different
communities. Gyan-Setu aims to address these communication barriers by
building "communication bridges" to these remote areas of developmentally
challenged states by organizing visits of volunteers - mostly from urban,
educated and privileged background - using "science-based education" as a
medium.
 Gyan-Setu invites applications from young, motivated and passionate
people, to be involved in Gyan-Setu as a Fellow. This *one year full-time
Fellowship program* (extendible up to two years) will provide an
opportunity to up to 5 fellows to be a part of this unique program aimed at
working towards *"national integration"* in remote areas of India
through *"science-based
education"* using *"hands-on activities"*.

Brief description of the Fellowship program is as follows.

*Role of Fellow :*

   1. Member of Gyan-Setu core team
   2. Coordinator - Sub team (Content development team,  Activity calendar
   team, Publicity team , Volunteer management team)
   3. Coordinator - State (Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Chhattisgarh,
   Jammu-Kashmir, Nagaland, Orissa, Jharkhand, Sikkim)
   4. Study-based project

The fellow's work place will be located in Pune with the accommodation and
food facilities.  The basic stipend of Rs. 15,000/- per month will be
provided to the fellow.
*Selection Criteria for the Fellow* :

   1. *Good academic record*
   2. *Passion to work in education field*: good experience of designing
   and conducting educational activities for school children
   3. *Intent to work towards disadvantaged/under-served sections of the
   society*
   4. *Leadership qualities*: experience of leading an initiative at
   college or professional level
   5. *Team work/Organizational attitude*: experience of organizing an
   activity in a team, e.g. college events

   1. Online application
   2. Telephonic interview
   3. In-person interview + On-field visit
