Bird Watching Workshop and camping in the lap of Himalayas
Organised by: Leafbird Foundation (www.leafbird.org)
Date: 6th May to 13th May 2017
Course Leader: Prof Aneel Bisht, an avid naturalist of the mountains
with a keen eye for birds. She has not only designed the workshop but
is also teaching it for the past few years.
Venue: Wacham village, Uttarakhand. This is remote village, the last
bastion en route to the Pindari and Sundardhunga glaciers. Surrounded
by untouched thick forest the area is very rich in bird life.

The workshop is an introduction to birding which will involve theory
and field trips. The focus is on identification of birds and
understanding the different and fascinating aspects of birds. The
field trips will be very rewarding as there will be many birds to see.
The workshops are very interactive, fun and serve as a solid stepping
stone to a lifelong healthy hobby.
The schedule:
6th May - pickup in Kathgodam. Onward journey to Bageshwar by car.
(180 km, 6 hrs) Night halt.
7th May - jeep journey to Khadkiya (60 km, 4 hrs), 3.5 km walk to
Wacham village, which will be our base.
8th - 12th May - Bird watching workshop. (10th - 11th May - camping in
the forest)
12th May evening - jeep journey to Bageshwar. Night halt
13th May - journey to Kathgodam. Arrival at 3pm.
