*The Workshop*
This hands on training programme aims to impart knowledge on the
application of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) such as Quantum GIS
(QGIS) for handling Vector and Raster Datasets for Natural resources
applications.
The participants will get exposed to the concepts of Satellite Remote
Sensing, Geoinformatics, GPS and FOSS. The participants will get hands on
experiences on
§ Download and Installation of QGIS
§ Importing Maps, Georectification, digitization, attributing, symbol
setting, and data integration
§ Download free datasets
§ Working with Raster and vecor Data and image interpretation
§ Spatial Queries, Buffer analysis
§ Raster-Vector conversion
§ Geodatabase creation
§ Generating Thematic maps
§ Map Visualization

Submit the duly filled application form along with the demand draft for Rs.
1000/- drawn in favour of “The Principal Jamal Mohamed College,
Tiruchirappalli” towards registration fee
Registration fee includes the cost of workshop, working lunch and
softcopies of Data, Training materials and Software.
Participants arrange their own Travel and accommodation.
