*Project: Kerala Homegardens Project*

*Position: Field Assistant*

*Number of positions: **4* (2 - survey field assistants; 2 biodiversity
assessment field assistants)

*Duration: **2.5 - 3 months*

*Start Date:* *27th January, 2023*

*Place of work:* Field-based with travel between sites within Kerala
(Idukki, Wayanad, Pathanamthitta)

*Compensation: *Commensurate with qualification. Expenses incurred during
field work will be covered.

*Application deadline:** 19th January 2023*

*Position summary:*
The Food Security and Biodiversity in Homegardens project (project
duration: 2.5 - 3 months) is looking for survey field assistants and
biodiversity assessment field assistants to assist with data collection in
Kerala (districts of Idukki, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad), starting 27th of
January 2023. Field work will involve household surveys and biodiversity
assessments of corresponding homegardens in Kerala.

*Requirements: *
1. Bachelor’s Degree in agriculture, forestry, botany, zoology,
environmental sciences, biology, geography or any related discipline.
2. Language Requirements: Fluency in written and spoken Malayalam and
English.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to work proactively as
part of an interdisciplinary team.
4. Motivation, discipline and patience to systematically collect, annotate
and communicate data.
5. Rigorous field work skills, including a) capacity to work and live in
remote areas under challenging conditions, b) willingness to travel and
spend the necessary time in the field, and c) maintenance of basic field
work equipment, will be helpful.
