*Position Description*
The Himalayan Langur Project (HLP) is a collaborative and multi-faceted
conservation endeavor. The central objectives are to investigate and
conserve the rich, but overlooked, biodiversity and culture of the Indian
Himalayas. We are looking for a *ONE* *social media Intern *interested in
dedicating 2-3 months in the western Himalayas. This excellent opportunity
is ideal for an enthusiastic young professional who is deeply committed to

their skills of storytelling and social media outreach. The ideal candidate
will have a career interest in wildlife photography, wildlife
conservation, animal
behavior, and fostering and driving conservation awareness through social

*In This Role You Will*
● Collaborate with the team to conceptualize and design creatives
representing the HLP work, and undertake research, development, and
curation of content ideas.
● Creating, editing, and publishing social media material on a daily
basis (e.g. original text, photos, videos, and news)
● Assist with website updates, social media, and other digital
activities, as needed.
● Maintain and organize existing digital photo archives.
● Increase HLP social media presence through posting scientific
content.
● Capture photos and videos in nature, at community-based activities.
*The Ideal Candidate Will Have*
● General understanding of conservation and the value of wildlife.
●Passion, creativity, and curiosity about nature and science
education/communication.
● Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
on assigned tasks.
● Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter and to work well in a
collaborative environment.
● Good verbal and written communication skills.
● Ability to commit to 8-10 hours per day.
● Excellent physical fitness.
*Skills And Qualifications Desired But Not Required*
● Experience with photography and videography that tells a story.
● Have (or be working toward) an undergraduate (B.Sc./B.A.) degree or
Master’s degree in any background.
● Experience with Community (citizen) science.
● Possess an understanding of journalism, media relations, and
communications
● Ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal supervision.
● Strong organizational skills and creative ability.
● Ability to understand the HLP mission and core theme.
*Study Site:* This position is based in Mandal Valley, Chamoli district
Uttarakhand, India. This site is one of the oldest sites of HLP and is
ideal for learning primate behavior field methodology. It is a very
beautiful small valley located at 1500-2000 meter elevation with a good
diversity of high-altitude mammals and birds. More information can be found

*Salary/funding*
Stipend and round-trip fares (train/bus) are available.
*Support provided for volunteer positions*
Food and accommodation at the field site will be covered by the project.

From November 1, 2022, to the end of January 2023
