Subject: Input call - Cultural Significance of Wetlands
To: YETI <meet.yeti@xxxxxxxxx>

It would be great if you could circulate it into the YETI community.

*INPUT CALL*

As you are aware, the Ramsar Convention, the NPCA scheme and Wetlands
(Conservation and Management) Rules, 2017 – all recognise the importance of
incorporating cultural values of wetlands while developing a wise use
strategy for wetlands. Wetlands are now being looked at as Amrit Dharohar,
recognising the important role they play in fostering nature-culture
relationships. To this end, a documentation of some of these cultural
values of Indian wetlands is being carried out  by the MoEF&CC under
the Wetlands
Management for Biodiversity and Climate Protection project
<http://indo-germanbiodiversity.com/projects-wetlands+management+for+biodiversity+and+climate+protection.html>,
a technical cooperation project funded by IKI-BMUV and implemented by GIZ.
The assignment aims to document traditional knowledge, local beliefs,
festivals, community practices and folktales related to the wetlands of
India.

We request you to share inputs, resources and media on the unique regional
cultural associations of people and wetlands, [including (but not limited
to) sacred values of wetlands in general or a particular wetland of the
country, associated norms and guidelines, nominate deities, customs, plants
and animals, customary laws and regulations, myths and folktales,
associated culinary traditions, festivities, and conservation traditions].
We welcome inputs from across the country, especially for the states of
Manipur, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Odisha and Himachal Pradesh To kindly share
these inputs (with due credits) and enrich this documentation, please
connect at -  anjana.vencatesan@xxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks and Regards
