Dear Fellows,
We are looking for an intern or volunteer to assist in an ongoing research
project on “*The role of invasive species in mediating inter-species
interactions in socio-ecological systems*”. This is a field based
project, and work capturing rodents, camera trapping for meso-carnivores,
and managing data. The field work will be conducted in the Banni grasslands
of Kutch. The applicant should have a strong affinity for rigorous
fieldwork under fairly harsh climatic conditions in a semi-arid landscape.
The upside is that the intern will get to work in a unique landscape,
gaining hands-on experience in handling animals, camera trapping and
working with communities. The work period is for 3 months (can be
extended for a month if required) and the intern will receive an honorarium
to meet basic expenses. Field logistic support including travel from the
place of stay to field and back (only in train or bus), food and accommodation
will be taken care of by the project. Two-wheeler/Four wheeler license
holders and Hindi or Gujarati speakers will be preferred.
