I am Prajakta. I work with Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve as Wildlife
Biologist. I am looking for an intern to assist me in studying the
human-wildlife interaction around the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and
Navegaon-Nagzira corridor for 3 months. This study is supported by Tadoba
Andhari Tiger Reserve Conservation Foundation and the Defries-Bajpai
Foundation.
The intern will mainly assist with conducting questionnaire surveys about
selected villages within the study area, help in collecting and maintaining
spatial information and transcribe/translate interviews from Marathi to
English. Therefore, I expect the candidate to be highly proficient in
communication in Marathi and basic English. Apart from this knowledge of
using GPS and managing data in an excel spreadsheet is expected.
I am looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person as sometimes
conducting social surveys becomes a bit monotonous and requires patience to
communicate with the local community, especially about their views and
perception of wildlife conservation.
We will provide basic field accommodation in the study area. Food and field
travel will be taken care of during the sampling period. The chances of
sighting wildlife in one of the most pristine habitats of central India is
a bonus for this position.
