We are happy to announce that the Indian Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN
India Chapter) is organising the Online Youth Capacity Building and
Consultation Workshop as part of Global Youth Biodiversity Network’s (GYBN)
Youth Engagement Roadmap for the Post - 2020 Global Biodiversity Framework
(GBF).
This is the first online capacity building and consultation that will take
place on January 23 and 24, 2021 via the video conference platform Zoom and
recordings will be shared on the YouTube channel
<https://www.youtube.com/user/gybncbd>. A total of four sessions (2.5 hours
each; 10:00 to 12:30 and 18:30 to 21:00 IST) would be conducted over the
two days. The consultation hopes to bring in youth from different regions
of India and with different backgrounds all with the same goal of
conserving India’s biodiversity and living in harmony with it.
The goals of the IYBN Capacity Building and Consultation for the Post 2020
Global Biodiversity Framework are:
1.
Build a deeper understanding of the biodiversity crisis, its drivers and
consequences, as well as the past and current efforts to address it.
2.
Empower young people to understand what can be done to address this
crisis and how to choose their role in addressing it.
3.
Collect initial views and perspectives from young people about their
relationship with biodiversity and its future.
4.
Mobilize the Indian youth community to achieve coordinated youth action
for the Post - 2020 GBF and compiling an Indian youth position statement.
IYBN (GYBN India chapter) is conducting this event as a part of a global
youth effort to gather national youth voices. GYBN hopes that this capacity
building and consultation will help to further mobilise, empower and bring
young Indian voices and perspectives across all decision-making processes
in the Convention on Biological Diversity, leading to the agreement of the
Post-2020 GBF which is expected to be adopted this year at the UN
Biodiversity Conference in Kunming, China.

This first Capacity Building and Consultation Workshop is free and open for
Indian youth who have registered for the same before the deadline.

The deadline is January 18, 2021 at 23:59 IST.
Participation Criteria:
1.
Be an Indian citizen
2.
Be below 35 years of age
3.
Be passionate about biodiversity and eager to have a deeper
understanding of biodiversity issues and how to take action
Registered participants will receive a confirmation email with a welcome
package and further instructions on how to get ready for the consultation.

Registrations received after the deadline or incomplete registrations
will not be considered.

Registration must be submitted in English.

Only participants who successfully attend all four sessions will be

Created in 2010, the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) is a network
of individuals and youth organisations from around the world whose common
goal is to prevent and halt the loss of biodiversity. The network
