As we approach the International Day of Education on 24 January, we realise
that this is a time to power education by stepping up collaboration and
international solidarity to place education and lifelong learning at the
heart of recovery. Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) empowers
learners to take informed decisions and responsible actions for
environmental integrity, economic viability and a just society, for present
and future generations, while respecting cultural diversity. It is about
lifelong learning, and is an integral part of quality education.
*Capturing the spirit of this day, we have organised an event in
cooperation with Engagement Global, Germany and the ESD Expert a
consortium of practitioners consisting of representatives from government,
academia, NGOs, teachers and teacher educators from India, Germany, South
Africa and Mexico.* This event celebrates learning in all contexts and
share innovations from the four countries in all aspects of learnings.
A special focus will be on ESD Leadership Program that aims to build
leadership skills in ESD among youth. Listen to the alumni speak..
