Dear Madam/Sir
Dr Alex Bond from the Natural History Museum, UK is our speaker for the
next edition of the Ministry of Nerds Science Club on Friday, 24th June at
2.00pm.
Dr. Bond is an ecologist and conservation biologist, with a focus on marine
birds and oceanic islands. Using a mix of lab, field, and analytical
techniques he studied the natural and human-caused changes to the natural
world. He is the Senior Curator in Charge, Bird Group, Department of Life
Sciences, The Natural History Museum, Tring, Hertfordshire, and London, UK.
Dr. Bond also acts as an Adjunct Researcher, Institute for Marine and
Antarctic Studies, University of Tasmania, Australia, and Environment
Research Institute, University of the Highlands and Islands, Thurso,
Scotland, UK.
Dr. Bond is one of the Editors-in-Chief, Avian Conservation & Ecology
Journal.

*Summary*
The Natural History Museum, London, has one of the largest and most
comprehensive bird collections in the world, numbering 1 million specimens
and covering 95% of avian biodiversity. Dr. Bond will discuss the history
of the bird collection at the NHM, its strengths and weaknesses, and
highlight how it has been used in research.
