Wildlife Institute of India is seeking passionate volunteers/ interns for
its project on “Wildlife management planning for protected areas of
Sikkim”. The work involves working on Wildlife Management planning of
protected areas Kangchenjunga National Park and Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary.
Our research work is centred on socio-economic surveys and field sampling
for animal signs and vegetation. Applicants will get to learn about the
biodiversity of Trans- Himalayas.
Work Description: The research work will be focusing on data entry and
analysis of socio-economic surveys done on individual households. The work
will also involve analyzing the vegetation sampling data. This is a
wonderful opportunity to learn about wildlife management planning and its
practical approaches.
Location: Successful candidates will join an interactive and dynamic
faculty and research at WII.
Qualifications: Students pursuing their Bachelors or master’s degree in
zoology, environmental sciences, sociology, life sciences, ecology,
wildlife biology or a related field is preferred. Applicants will be
creative, motivated, and capable of working effectively both independently
and in a collaborative environment. Experience working with socio-economic
surveys and vegetation sampling/ botany background is useful, but not
necessary. We are looking for creative, hard-working students.

Duration: three to four months( may be extended)
Compensation: Under and postgraduates seeking and (preferably for three to
four months) will be paid Rs. 6000/month. Food and other expenses including
travel and stay will be provided for students working with us in limited
periods. Other benefits include: valuable training/certifications (sample
analysis and field sampling techniques).
