The Department of Biology at Ashoka University would like to invite you to
apply to the Ph.D program in Biology (

of the premier research universities in India. Here you will have ample
avenues to explore your hobbies and passions beyond your research in one of
the most vibrant campuses located just an hour away from New Delhi city.
The Department of Biology has established a strong research culture with
faculty members working on a wide array of topics – from single molecule
interactions to ecosystem dynamics. This allows tremendous possibilities
for research projects that span the length scale and complexity found in
biology. In addition to learning cutting-edge techniques on several
state-of-the-art facilities and developing deep knowledge in life sciences,
our graduate students will also have the opportunity to interact and
collaborate with several well-known national and international scientists. The
liberal arts environment promotes exploration into cross-disciplinary
projects with expertise readily available in areas such as computer
science, physics, chemistry, and social sciences.
Graduate students admitted to the Ph D program carry out rotations in any
2-3 of the labs within the department before taking a decision on joining a
particular lab for their thesis. Most candidates joining the department are
fully funded throughout their PhD tenure. Candidates with their own
fellowship receive additional contingency grants and food & tuition
subsidies.
Accommodation is arranged by Ashoka in dedicated housing facilities along
with 24-hr medical facility and group health insurance benefits.
