Subject: Project Assistant and Postdoctoral researcher positions in avian
genetics and avian malaria @CES, IIsc

A Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance funded *Research Associate
(postdoctoral researcher) *position is available to study avian genetics
and to explore questions related host-parasite evolution using a
combination of genetic markers. The post will be based in the Centre for
Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.
Duties: The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the generation
of microsatellite and sequence data, data analysis and writing of
manuscripts for publication in international journals.
Salary: as per IISc norms but based on experience and skills.
Minimum Qualifications: · A Ph.D. in biology, molecular biology, or a
related field with a focus on ecology or evolution.
Essential qualification: The postdoctoral researcher must be trained in
molecular techniques, population genetics etc.
Very well organised; Ability to communicate clearly, work efficiently and
independently.
*For Project Assistant:*
Duties: Project assistant will support several collaborative projects in
ecology, and evolution. Specifically he/she will conduct laboratory, and
field experiments; perform inventory and order material/supplies in a
molecular biology laboratory; enter data and manage databases on a regular
basis; maintain laboratory in working order.
Qualifications:
- M.Sc. degree in molecular biology, ecology, avian biology,
entomology, or related discipline is preferred.
- Candidate must demonstrate: coursework and hands-on experience in
ecology and evolutionary biology;
- capacity and interest in learning new concepts and techniques,
including DNA based techniques;
- skill in both verbal and written communication in English;
- computer literacy and in managing; ability to multi-task and work
both independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively with others.
- willing to work in the field as and when required.
Salary: as per IISc norms but based on experience and skills.
