Sir,
Greetings from Dehradun, India. Our centre, the UNESCO Category 2 Centre on
World Natural Heritage Site management and training for Asia-Pacific region
at Wildlife Institute of India (C2C at WII) works on promoting world
natural heritage site capacity strengthening and networking in the
Asia-Pacific region and it has taken up major outreach and research
activities under various thematic schemes including climate change
mitigation through Ecosystem based – Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR) and
heritage.

We are now working towards producing a case study compendium (E-book and
limited publication) which will help document the climate change mitigation
measures with special focus on Eco-DRR strategies in World Heritage Sites.
Detailed concept note and flyer are enclosed.
It is in this regard that we write this initial mail to –
1. *request you to submit a case-study for a world heritage site* (either
inscribed or tentatively listed: Kaeng Krachan National Park) that you are
most familiar with. Details of the case-study template, sub-themes and
guidelines are attached.
*The timelines for the publication are as follows*:
1st December – open call for Abstracts
31st December 2019- deadline for abstract submission
10th January 2020- Decision of the selection committee conveyed
10th February 2020- first complete draft ready for internal review
2nd March 2020- 15th April 2020 – second order draft shared for external
review and feedback to authors
15th April - 30th April 2020 - Design and finalization of e-publication
12-15 June 2020- Publication launch at IUCN -World Conservation Congress
2. In addition to above, you shall be delighted to note that C2C at WII has
secured a 90 minute thematic session slot at the IUCN World Conservation
Congress that shall take place from 11-19 June 2020, at Marseille, France.

We expect to launch this compendium at this session and also invite you as
a potential speaker/ participant.
Here we must convey that funding for participation is being sought, but
meanwhile you are also encouraged to secure your own funding and register
for the event.
