Dear all,

We are looking for a motivated field-oriented person to join our
research program (Prof. R. Sukumar's lab at CES, IISc) on the
long-term dynamics of a tropical dry forest in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve
(the Nilgiris, Tamilnadu).

Required qualifications: A master's degree in Botany, Forestry,
Environmental Sciences, or Life Sciences from a recognized university
with first class.

Desirable qualifications: Basic computer knowledge, 4-wheeler driving,
and the ability to converse in Kannada and/or Tamil.

Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will:

* Conduct fieldwork along with an existing team studying forest
dynamics, carbon inventory, and phenological monitoring

* Perform data entry and preliminary data processing

* Be willing to stay at the field station in Masinagudi on a regular basis

* Take on other responsibilities as and when assigned

Remuneration will be in accordance with educational qualifications and
prior work experience of the candidate.

The position provides a great opportunity to obtain field experience
in long-term forest research methodology as well as an understanding
of the dynamics of this important ecosystem.

Interested persons can send in their resume to Dr. Suresh
