Subject: Research Position-Agro-forestry Project in Gujarat
Dear Members
I am based in Ahmedabad and work with Centre for Environment and
Social Concerns (CESC).
I recently got a project from Gujarat Forest Department to 'Study and
Document Agro-forestry Practices in Gujarat'.
The study aims to assess social, institutional, ecological and
economic aspects of agro-forestry (AF) practices, through quantitative
and qualitative data collection approach involving all the major
stakeholders in different agro-climatic sub-regions of the state.
Study aims to analyse five critical aspects of AF practices: extension
services; ecological-economical effectiveness of different models;
marketing mechanism; incentives and financial support; and gender
inclusion and social capital. Duration of study is one year.
I am looking for a research student who can work on above aspects of
agro-forestry related work in Gujarat. Student must have good bent of
mind in exploring the subject.
Study demands extensive travelling in rural areas and household
surveys, interviews of key respondents and organizing Focus Group
Discussions.
Minimum qualification: Master degree in life science or social science subjects
Desirable qualification: 1-2 years of field studies of similar nature.
Good in MS Excel and MS Word. Knowledge of forestry and statistical
analysis (SPSS) will be given priority.
Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
