Dear Colleagues,

SANBI has a number of job opportunities available for work on biological
invasions.

The following positions have been advertised (as per the attached pdfs) and
are closing 1 Nov 2019.

Taxon-specific Researcher—Alien Cacti and Succulents
https://www.sanbi.org/job/taxon-specific-researcher-alien-cacti-and-succulents-3/

Taxon-specific Researcher—Alien Grasses or Alien Vines and Creepers
https://www.sanbi.org/job/taxon-specific-researcher-alien-grasses-or-alien-vines-and-creepers/

Taxon-specific Researcher—Australian Trees and Shrubs (note this is based
in Kirstenbosch as per the pdf, not as per an old version of the web-site)
https://www.sanbi.org/job/researcher-invasive-australian-trees-and-shrubs-2/

We also have a bursary scheme, closing 8 Nov 2019
https://www.sanbi.org/job/biological-invasions-bursaries/

We also have several other positions that should be advertised shortly so
please encourage people to keep an eye on the web-site below.  These
upcoming adverts are expected to include an advert for a Biological
Invasions Risk Analysis Coordinator, a project officer to work on risk
analysis, and three junior scientists posts to be based in regional centres.

Best wishes,

John

P.S. I'm writing to you as you are SANBI biological invasions staff,
students, interns, and post-docs, and/or have been involved with at least
one of the Australian Trees and Shrubs, Cactaceaee, or Grass Working
Groups.  I'll also post to the South African invasives-list server, and
please circulate to people who might be interested.

P.P.S. See below an advert about a position at UniVen.  Would be great to
get an invasion scientists there.  "I am providing here the following link:
http://www.univen.ac.za/vacancies/ to a permanent Lecturer-level position
at the Department of Zoology at the University of Venda. The position has
just been advertised and the closing date is the 8th of November 2019. We
will be looking to appoint someone soonest, with the aim that they will
assume duties at the start of the teaching semester in 2020.

I encourage young researchers with a PhD to use this opportunity to secure
yourself a rare permanent faculty position, and in one of the more vibrant
and well-situated Zoology departments in the country.
