Greetings from SeasonWatch!
SeasonWatch (www.seasonwatch.in) is an India-wide citizen science programme
aimed at understanding the effects of climate change on tree seasonality.
In SeasonWatch one monitors the annual cycle of flowering, fruiting and
flushing of leaves in some common trees found in India, the information
obtained is then contributed through the project App
<https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=seasonwatch.in>. Tree
seasonality is known to be intimately linked with environmental changes and
there is increasing evidence that climate change is affecting trees and
dependent trophic interactions throughout the world.
To assess the present scenario of climate change education in schools,
SeasonWatch as part of its new research study, ‘Integrating citizen science
in climate-change education in schools’, will get to know how educators
use SeasonWatch and other nature learning resources to teach climate change
concepts in their classrooms.
As part of the first phase of this study we invite you to participate in
the SeasonWatch educator’s survey. This survey will help us understand how
you use nature learning resources in your classroom and identify gaps in
climate change education in school curriculums.This project will also help
us understand what teaching resources educators envision within their
classrooms to make climate-change education more hands-on and create
age-appropriate resource modules for schools about climate change with the
help of citizen science.
We would really appreciate it, if you (educators/teachers) could take part
in this survey and also pass on this information to your fraternity. The
survey should roughly take about 20-25 minutes.
