Talk Title: The One Health Approach - improving public, wildlife, and
planetary health, one solution at a time!

Venue: National Centre for Biological Sciences, TIFR, BENGALURU

Prathima Shetty Travel Scholarship

The travel scholarship will enable two receipients to visit NCBS,
listen to Dr. Mazet's talk and interact with Dr. Mazet and other
researchers.

Eligibility Criterion:

Outstation (outside Bangalore) Candidates
Previously demonstrated interest and/or proficiency in One Health,
Public Health, Wildlife Health, Ecosystem Health, or Planetary Health
Preference: economically & socially marginalized candidates
Preference: students and early-career researchers


Application:

Send your detailed C.V, and a brief Statement of Purpose (SOP) to
prathimamemorial@xxxxxxxxx by 16th April 2017 (6 P.M)
The SOP should (1) not be more than 100 word, (2) give a brief
introduction about yourself, (3) and the reasons about why you think
you should be selected.
You can also nominate a candidate who meets the eligibility criterion.
Please provide the name of the nominee, reasons for nomination, and
his contact details before the 14th of April 2017.

About the Speaker:

A Professor of Epidemiology and Disease Ecology, and Executive
Director of the One Health Institute in the UC Davis School of
Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Mazet focuses on global health problem
solving, especially for emerging infectious disease and conservation
challenges. She is active in international One Health research
programs, most notably in relation to disease transmission among
wildlife, domestic animals, and people and the ecological drivers of
disease emergence. Currently, she is the Global Director of a $175
million viral emergence early warning project, named PREDICT, that is
part of the Emerging Pandemic Threats Program. She was elected to the
US National Academy of Medicine in 2013 in recognition of her
successful and innovative approach to emerging environmental and
global health threats. (Website)
