Dear all,
Greetings from SACON!!! Here is an exciting opportunity to work on otters
in Coimbatore Forest Division. We are looking for highly motivated,
independent and experienced candidate for a period of two years. The
details of the project and recruitment are as follows:-
*Project title: Smooth-coated otter as an ecological indicator of riparian
habitat ecosystem*
*Name of the Position*: Research Fellow (01 No.) *Age*: Below 28 years on
the stipulated last date for receiving applications; the upper age limit
may be relaxed up to five years in the case of candidates belonging to
SC/ST and three years for OBC/Women and Physically Challenged category as
per Central Government norms; *Duration*: Two years; the selected candidate
will be initially engaged for one year and her/his tenure may be extended
for further periods on the basis of her/his performance; *Emoluments*: Rs.
20,000/- consolidated per month; *Essential Qualification:* i) Masters’
Degree in Wildlife Science/Wildlife Biology/Ecology/Zoology/Life
Sciences/Environmental Science/Biodiversity and Conservation related
subjects from a recognized University/Institute with a minimum of 55% marks
or above; ; *Desirable Skills*: i) Ability to conduct rigorous field
surveys independently on habitat ecology and wildlife surveys ii)
Proficiency in English with excellent written and communication skills and
ability to write and publish scientific papers; iii) Familiarity with GIS
softwares and statistical analysis; iv) Depending upon the candidate’s
performance she/he will be given an opportunity to register for PhD. v)
Must have two-wheeler license; *Project requirements:* i) Prior experience
in field ecological surveys that include habitat assessment in freshwater
ecosystems and riparian habitats; ii) Must undertake extensive field
surveys independently along riparian habitats in Coimbatore Forest
Division; iii) Must be familiar with identification of signs/tracks and
behaviour of otter species, assessment of water quality and socio-economic
surveys.
*Project Duration*: 2 years
