Project Name: Conservation of Great Indian Bustard and its Habitats in Thar
landscapes
Location: Pokhran - Jaisalmer, Rajasthan
Reports to: Team Leader
Work experience: minimum 2 year of relevant work experience in working with
communities on outreach, biodiversity management and documentation,
sustainable livelihoods and health preferably in Rajasthan.
About us: The Wildlife Conservation Society-India works to conserve
wildlife, backed by science. We work in partnership with governmental and
non-governmental organizations to deal with conservation challenges such as
human-wildlife interaction, voluntary relocation of people from protected
forest areas, combating wildlife trafficking, conservation of endangered
species and so on. Committed to wildlife conservation and the ecological
world view that recognizes the inextricable link between human welfare and
protection of wildlife and wild spaces, WCS-India endeavours to inspire
positive attitudes in people towards wildlife
About the project: The project aims to save the GIB and its habitats in
Thar Desert in collaboration with Rajasthan forest department. The project
focusses to address different threats by adopting a broad multi-pronged
approach to transform local communities by bringing about desired change in
their knowledge, attitudes & skills.
Required Qualification, Skills & Abilities:
- Master's or Bachelor’s degree in Social /Life Science.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to mobilize community in
local language i.e. Rajasthani, Hindi.
- Physically fit to work in the field under adverse weather conditions.
- Excellent planning, time management, problem solving and
organizational abilities.
- Good analytical skills and verse with MS Office, SPSS and other
monitoring and evaluation tools.
- Must have a valid driving license for two or four wheelers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conducting field visits to collect data/information.
- Collate daily monitoring information from village watchers and field
assistants from the project area.
- Maintain and update monthly Monitoring and Evaluation of all project
activities.
- Support Sociology and Ecology teams in preparation of reports and
presentations, micro plans, biodiversity documentation etc.
- Support the project team in programme implementation in the field as
required by the Team Leader.
- Prepare weekly/monthly/quarterly and donor technical reports.
- Any other work as assigned by the Team Leader.
Compensation: Offered as per the qualification and experience.
