About us: We work to conserve wildlife, backed by science. We work in
partnership with governmental and non-governmental organisations to deal
with conservation challenges such as human-wildlife interaction, voluntary
relocation of people from protected forest areas, combating wildlife
trafficking, conservation of endangered species and so on. Committed to
wildlife conservation and the ecological world view that recognises the
inextricable link between human welfare and protection of wildlife and wild
spaces, we endeavour to inspire positive attitudes in people towards
wildlife.
About the Project: The project aims to work with detection and enforcement
agencies to build capacity to investigate, arrest, prosecute, convict and
sentence criminal organizations that perpetrate wildlife trafficking of
marine species.
Required Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:
- Post graduate degree, preferably a Master’s Degree in Wildlife
Sciences, Marine Biology, Conservation Biology or allied sciences.
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English and general
knowledge of Indian language(s).
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate effectively as a
member of a team.
- Excellent computer literacy skills and discretion in handling
confidential and sensitive information with attention to detail in managing
data and databases
- Knowledge of handling, analysing and visualizing data using GIS and
basic data analysis tools such as Microsoft Excel, R, SPSS etc.
- Highly motivated with good understanding of the various issues and
policies related to conservation and management of marine biodiversity.
Job responsibilities:
- Conduct online and/or field‐based research on marine wildlife
trafficking
- Assist in setting-up and managing WCS-India’s wildlife trafficking
database, ensuring it is kept up to date and information products are
produced as needed
- Help to manage information on illegal activities/trade obtained from
informant networks and reports.
- Assist in organising capacity building workshops and liaising with
enforcement agencies and local communities.
- Compile reports, dossiers and other required outputs on marine
wildlife trafficking
- Assist with report writing as needed
- Receive training and capacity development as required to fulfil this
role, including in research methods, information management and other
topics as needed
- Assist with all other counter‐wildlife trafficking activities as
required.
Remuneration: Commensurate with qualification and experience.
