Subject: looking for collaborators for butterfly research
To: meet.yeti@xxxxxxxxx <meet.yeti@xxxxxxxxx>
Dear Young Ecologists and Evolutionary Biologists,
We are looking for collaborators to sample *Melanitis leda* butterflies
(common evening brown). This species occurs throughout Africa and the
Austral-Asian region, and is often common. We are interested in documenting
colorations of this species during a complete year in different parts of
its range. The non-lethal sampling can be done in a garden or plantation.
We target at least 50 specimens per month, which may be possible in 1 day
in many instances, but about 20 is also fine. Sampling consists of
photographing butterflies against a standard grey card in the field, and we
are also interested in a few specimens on ethanol (to be analyzed in
India). Maybe you already have such samples and we could assist with
photographing the specimens. We offer co-authorship and will apply for
financial support. If interested, please contact Freerk Molleman at
fremol@xxxxxxxxxx.
Warm greetings,
Freerk (Dutch biologist who has worked in India)
