Dear Friends/ colleagues
We are currently working in Bhagirathi basin from Devprayag to Gaumukh and
above and in Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. We are carrying out several
field based exercise such as camera trapping and rodent trapping for
mammals, nest monitoring and point count for birds, and other such sampling
protocols for herpeto-fauna, fish and insects.
To carry out all these activities at the same time period, we need large
manpower *with basic knowledge in wildlife, and full time engagement in the
field activities*. The details of our project is available at our
institution website (www.wii.gov.in).
We need to carry out this intensive field work from mid-March to July and
very basic accommodation and food at the field base-camp will be provided
from the project. However, NO ACCOMMODATION WILL BE PROVIDED FOR STAYING IN
WII HEADQUARTER OR IN DEHRADUN.
All the interested students should fill up the internship form (attached
with this mail and also available at WII website) and should read the terms
and conditions of internship in NMSHE project as mentioned in WII website.
This is a short-term field exercise that can be used as field experience by
the interns in future, however, no long-term academic achievements such as
doctoral thesis or individual scientific publication is possible with the
current scope of the opening and data ownership issues. At the same time,
all the field works are going to be carried out in extremely harsh climatic
conditions in tough terrain, so the applicants should be mentally prepared
to stay in these harsh situations with very minimal logistic support.
