by renowned experts and enthusiasts, and a film-making workshop.*
The Moving Waters Film Festival is conceived to showcase the grandeur of
rivers and oceans, and highlight the issues plaguing them, to people living
far away. As the first exclusive ocean and river themed film festival, we
hope to bridge research, exploration, conservation and filmmaking in India.
This two-day festival will take attendees through the various ways in which
we rely on water, whether for drinking, oil exploration, electricity
generation, recreation or fishing. Knowledge of what lies beneath the
oceans and rivers that brings us life, is increasingly important, but we
know less about the ocean floor than the surface of the Moon or even
Mars! The collection of films documents the wonders of these ecosystems, as
well as the travails that threaten to destroy them. Through the medium of
film, we hope to start a public conversation about aquatic issues in India
and abroad.
