Dear Stakeholder,

My name is Dr Tim Cadman, and I am a Research fellow at the Institute for Ethics Governance and Law, Griffith University, Queensland, Australia

I am conducting research into the governance of the governance of sustainable development to evaluate the quality and legitimacy of global environmental initiatives, and stakeholder attitudes in particular.I would like to invite you to take part in this research project. This study is about the governance of the sustainable development initiatives at the global level. ‘Governance’ means the way in which these initiatives are managed, or co-ordinated. The study will look at whether this is done in a useful way or not. The study will look at documents, and other written information, and will also ask questions from people who play a part in such initiatives about what they think.
These initiatives include:

* The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and related emissions reduction initiatives, including the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), and Reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+);

* The United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and related Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES) as well as biodiversity offset mechanisms (BOM);

* Forest-related initiatives including Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade (FLEGT), as well as timber certification programmes - including the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC).

Participation in this project includes an Internet-based questionnaire, follow-up interviews for those interested and a possible further focus-group meeting for in-depth interviewees, should they wish to attend at a place and date of mutual convenience.

You may withdraw from the survey at any time. However, by clicking “done”, you indicate that you understand the information and that you give your consent to participate in the research project.
Your participation is ANONYMOUS.
