Hi

I am looking for two field technicians to help with a bird banding and
sample collecting project in the sky islands of Western Ghats. The study is
to understand genetic connectivity of birds across the Western Ghats. Visit

Skills you will get exposed to are - putting up mist-nets, extracting and
banding birds, taking morphometric measurements, sampling bird
ecto-parasites and collecting genetic samples. Prior knowledge of bird
banding is preferred, ability to drive a four wheeler and converse in
Tamil/Malayalam also preferred. Please include names of two referees and
their contact numbers. Salary is negotiable and we will close applications
as soon as the right candidate is found. We plan to start field work by mid
October that will go on until May 2013 (8 months) with short breaks. Due to
logistical difficulties, breaks to go home will have to be worked around
the tight field schedule and not vice-versa. We plan to complete the
selection process by October 30th.
