I say again, read paragraphs 104-109 in Part 5, and take them in context in the document. It shows that the BBC is not ruling out HDTV, is happy to produce content in HDTV, but has no formulated plan for broadcast of HDTV. It would require analogue switch-off to implement HD broadcasts terrestrially, and the BBC has no direct interest in any satellite broadcaster, so is at the mercy of others for delivery. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Schubin" <tvmark@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: "Multiple Addresses Suppressed" <tvmark@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, May 04, 2004 3:53 AM Subject: [opendtv] 20040503 Mark's Monday Memo > - BBC and HDTV - A reader wrote: "Readers should definitely not > take from it the view that HD is being actively considered for broadcast > by the BBC at present, HD's a production medium that helps international > sales, no more than that." > He refers readers to Part 5 of the BBC report at this URL, > paragraphs 104-109: > <http://www.culture.gov.uk/global/publications/archive_2004/bbc_report_on_di gital_switchover.htm> > To me, it seems to say what I reported last week. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
