In addition to the article I just posted about 5G in the U.S., it is worth
noting that Apple and Qualcomm have settled their legal battle about royalties
and licensing fees.
There may still be some downside for Qualcomm related to the FTC case and other
anti-trust litigations around the world based on Qualcomm’s licensing
practices.
The agreement includes a new deal between Apple and Qualcomm to license
Qualcomm 5G chips. As a result, the U.S. may continue to lead in the
development of 5G technologies.
Now the debate shifts to the International markets, where China’s Huawei is
seeing many commitments to deploying their 5G technology. Perhaps the fact that
Qualcomm has been “saved” will change the International dynamics...
