“A Taste of NAB – The Road Show” was conceived for those who either didn’t or couldn’t make it to the big NAB convention in Las Vegas. Oregon’s Society of Broadcast Engineer’s (SBE) chapters will host “A Taste of NAB” this month at all three Oregon SBE Chapters with the week winding up at Napa Valley College in California.

This traveling Road Show is available to broadcast communities between Canada and Mexico, traveling from coast-to-coast, bringing some of the latest technology to grassroots broadcasters who would otherwise not have seen it. There is NO charge to attend these or any SBE meetings as they are open to anyone interested in broadcasting.

Tuesday, May 11th, on the Tektronix campus in Beaverton, will mark the beginning of the Taste of NAB – Road Show’s ninth year. Portland’s SBE Chapter 124 is stop #1 of over fifty that will be made between now and just after Labor Day. For details on this Portland event, visit: www.tech-notes.tv/2010/01-Portland.htm <http://www.tech-notes.tv/2010/01-Portland.htm>.

The following day, Wednesday, May 12th, the Taste of NAB will be part of the Eugene SBE Chapter 76 program hosted in KLSR Studio A. As in Portland (and at most all other Taste of NAB presentations), there will be many door prizes awarded and refreshments. For details on this Eugene event, visit: www.tech-notes.tv/2010/02-Eugene.htm <http://www.tech-notes.tv/2010/02-Eugene.htm>.

On Thursday, May 13th, the Taste of NAB 2010 presentation will be part of the Medford SBE Chapter 141 program hosted in KOBI’s Studio C. For details on this Medford event, visit: www.tech-notes.tv/2010/03-Medford.htm <http://www.tech-notes.tv/2010/03-Medford.htm>.

We will wind up week one on Saturday, May 15th on the campus of Napa Valley College in Napa, CA. This school has (arguably) graduated more Chief Engineers than any other in the country. They are in the process of forming a Student SBE Chapter and are currently a SMPTE Student Chapter. For details on this Napa College event, visit: www.tech-notes.tv/2010/04-Napa.htm <http://www.tech-notes.tv/2010/04-Napa.htm>.

The refreshments at all four of these Taste of NAB 2010 presentations are sponsored by Al Jason of Harris Broadcast Group.
