TRADE NEWS: Agilent Technologies' 14-Bit, 100-MHz Digitizer for Agilent 93000 SOC Series Offers Industry's Highest Performance for Testing DOCSIS 2.0, HDTV 10 May 2004, 11:00am ET PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 10, 2004-- New Set-Top Box Solution Meets Next-Generation Test Requirements, Increases Throughput, Lowers Cost of Test Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) today announced a 14-bit, 100-MHz digitizer for the Agilent 93000 SOC Series that offers the industry's highest performance for testing DOCSIS 2.0 and high-definition television (HDTV). The new set-top box solution meets next-generation test requirements, increases throughput and lowers cost of test. As consumers demand more interactive, two-way communication and entertainment services such as video conferencing, cable telephony and peer-to-peer gaming, the cable television industry is pressed to increase bandwidth and data rates. The DOCSIS 2.0 standard increases upstream data rates to 30.7 Mb/s, three times faster than before, enabling symmetric upstream and downstream bandwidth. HDTV is also increasing in popularity because it provides a sharper picture than analog TV, offering up to four times more pixels. Both trends, DOCSIS 2.0 and HDTV, require higher-performance digital-to-analog converters (DACs) to meet the higher data rate requirements. Higher performance impacts system-on-a-chip (SOC) and system-in-a-package (SIP) devices for set-top box, cable modem and digital television (DTV) applications. ... http://finance.lycos.com/qc/news/story.aspx?story=200405101500_BWR__BW5393 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
