I think I smell a rat...
Amazon seems to be growing up, maybe even trying to make a profit.
Last week they introduced a new high-end Kindle, with a price tag that actually
allows them to make a profit on the device. There were several analysts who
described this move by Amazon as an attempt to move towards Apple's business
model - actually making money off of hardware.
Offering a Prime Video subscription could be the first step toward unbundling
the streaming video service from Prime (the prepaid two day shipping service).
There are likely many Prime subscribers who do not use Prime Video, like me.
Bundling the video service was a good way to get people to try Prime Video, but
in the long run it makes little sense to pay the content owners for subscribers
who do not use the video service.
We're thinking about dropping Netflix as well, as we do not use it enough to
justify the cost...

- By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word
unsubscribe in the subject line.
