First, what this country really needs is more spectrum to create even more hand-held-device addicts than we have now. Just yesterday, I saw the car next to me come to within inches of the car in front, at a stoplight? Why? The idiot in the car was texting. Yes, we need more of that. Secondly, we could do that same sort of irrelevant cost analysis on all sorts of things. I already gave you the national parks example. Imagine how much they would be worth, if they weren't wasted on just a few visitors paying a pittance for admittance. Ditto with public beaches, local parks, etc. Or what about public roads? Imagine how much more we could get from them if they were given to private companies and operated as toll roads. Hell, why don't we gut the existing zoning laws, to allow more dense housing to be built? Imagine how lucrative all this inefficiently-used land could become. I could go on and on. To see greedy b____ds licking their chops over what they consider underutilized spectrum that was assigned to others is, in a word, unbecoming.
