Well, you know, the "C" stands for "walled garden." It's in their genes. But
this is the bottom truth here, aka "showing their true colors":

C-SPAN Moving To Authenticated TV Streaming
. . .

"Reserving online access to our three television channels to cable and
satellite customers reflects the dynamic changes you can see going on in video
distribution today," she says, and important to preserving the business model
for the future.

"Preserving the business model for the future." Almost funny, right? This is
exactly what I've been saying. A desperate attempt to retain a now archaic
business model, one which made sense when wideband distribution networks had to
be one-way broadcast walled gardens, and local monopolies.

It does make sense for C-SPAN to support different quality levels and different
feature sets, for paying customers. No question there. But not to prop up buggy
whip industry? If they don't want to collect fees themselves, from paying
customers, the VERY LEAST they can do is to offer many more ways for consumers
to opt in.

Come now.
