This brings back something from my previous life in the Navy. This was before
ships had satellite TV. So off you go, months on end, on the other side of the
world, and one of my fellow watchstanders remarked that being at sea makes you
realize just how unimportant a lot of things are back home. And he mentioned
specifically sports. When you do without, he said, you realize they don't
matter.
My exact thoughts at the time were, well, I sure as h*ll didn't have to come
way out here to figure that out!!
