to convince us that the Internet is a telecom service is beyond lame. The

electronic commerce and the ability of a handful of companies to dominate this
new market.
If anything, what the EU is doing is *against* neutrality. They are trying to
get in the knickers of the users, much like our FCC Chairman keeps trying to
do,
That is absurd; Pai is doing just the opposite. It was Obama and Wheeler who
were heading down the path the Europeans are taking. The FCC did not have
authority to regulate Internet services before the TItle II order, and it does
not have the authority to regulate Internet services today.
Under the Title II order, the FCC initiated a number of proceedings that were
an overt attempt to begin Internet regulation by the FCC. Especially notable
was the lame proceeding to use the failed authorization to regulate Cable set
top boxes, to dictate the design of Internet streaming boxes, and to impose new
copyright restrictions on streaming services.
Thankfully that effort was laughed out of your neighborhood!

NOTHING to do with controlling FB, Twitter, or what John Shutt is allowed to
say. Net neutrality means that the telecoms have to be NEUTRAL wrt the users
of the telecoms. Very simple. If someone has to monitor for theft of IP or
whatever, that would probably be the FTC, not the FCC.
Net Neutrality was a HUGE KANARD Bert. It was created by people who know
nothing other than government control of the telecommunications oligopoly.
There are NO THREATS of “Net Neutrality” violations by ISPs - the marketplace
is working just fine.
But there ARE HUGE THREATS to the neutrality of the services that have been
enabled by the Internet. It’s Google, Facebook, and Twitter that are being
hauled in front of Congressional Committees to explain why they are blocking
and demonetizing content based on POLITICAL SPEECH.
Sadly, laws like those now being developed in Europe, are going to help these
companies become the powerful new monopolies of the 21st Century. This is the
true legacy of a century of telecom regulation based on the false premise of
these services being natural monopolies.
The regulatory monster must be fed!
And yes, in the U.S. the appropriate agency to deal with these issues is the
FTC, which once again is in charge of ISP neutrality.
You might as well warn us about "black helicopters," the knee-jerk reaction
of anti-government paranoia.
If ever there has been good reason to be concerned about government overreach,
the abuse of our legal system, and Federal agencies that have become political
tools, it is now.
Wake up.
