I'm in general agreement with Mike here. For the next few years there will be a premium 4K display market focused on "profitability." But 4K LCD panels will replace 2k panels in a few years at current TV prices. The issue then will be how to take advantage of this resolution. 4k video will find a niche, but the primary"digital video" market will be feature films not sports and TV entertainment. None of these applications will drive future TV upgrades. This is where Apple may step in, showing the way again with the applications that will justify the investment. It will be Internet driven apps, not TV entertainment that will drive the next revolution in the family room.
