Dunno about Evil... but poorly done, it sure is ugly. I've been resisting the temptation to purchase an HDTV set largely because of the MPEG problems. Its noticeable at times on SD feeds we see on DirecTV, and it distracts from enjoying the program content. Talking at the television or the people in charge of encoding decisions isn't my idea of how to enjoy a program. And my wife wouldn't like me doing that either. I am hunting for the "right" set of DTV converter boxes for OTA reception on several sets that depend on my antenna.< > What's frustrating is that none of the few places I've looked have the boxes set up and working so you can actually SEE what the results look like. I'm kinda like that... want to see it work, first. Best Buy did have some standalone HD tuners also... including a Samsung DTB-H260F but these weren't connected, either. And if one could talk them into opening a box and connecting either the DTV or HD tuners, there's probably not a CRT in the house to connect them to. Now if they had Genlock... :) How many of us might be singing this to the tune of Groucho Marx' "Lydia, the Tattooed Lady:" Analog, Oh, Analog. Bring back our Analog. Without that Macroblocking. Fades to black without a krinkle. Nose won't wrinkle.
