Bert has raised a number of issues about TV Everywhere in recent posts. In particular he has focused on the fact that Comcast has a significant lead in TVE content availability over other MVPD competitors. So I decided to do a bit of research about the history of TVE, and the technologies behind it. This message is just a bunch of representative links to some of the most interesting resources I found. The first is a 2013 TV Technology column by Paul Madsen. It provides a bit of history and a good technical overview of the infrastructure behind TVE. http://www.tvtechnology.com/cable-satellite-iptv/0149/how-does-tv-everywhere-work/268647 This is a bit older slide presentation, that provides a good overview: http://www.incospec.com/resources/webinars/files/Incospec%20-%20Multiscreen%20-%20TV%20everywhere-final.pdf Here are a variety of links to some of the infrastructure companies involved and white papers they have published: http://www.akamai.com/dl/feature_sheets/TV_Everywhere_FS.pdf http://www.netscout.com/library/Products%20Quick%20Looks/NetScout_QL_TV_Everywhere_SP.pdf http://www.streamingmedia.com/Articles/Editorial/Featured-Articles/DirecTV-Highlights-Hurdles-and-Flaws-of-TV-Everywhere-Access--93444.aspx http://www.lightreading.com/cable-video/ott/cablelabs-issues-tv-everywhere-specs/d/d-id/681419 http://www.v-net.tv/accelerating-tv-everywhere-for-pay-tv-operators And finally, this is a recent sponsored report with lot's of good info between the ads. http://www.btreport.net/content/dam/btr/migrated/2014/01/1401BTR-SR-Final.pdf Regards Craig ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways: - Using the UNSUBSCRIBE command in your user configuration settings at FreeLists.org - By sending a message to: opendtv-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
